Drake’s was founded in London in 1977. Under the creative direction of Michael Hill, it has grown from a neckwear specialist into one of the most considered British menswear houses working today — a maker with genuine manufacturing depth and an unhurried focus on quality over novelty. The rugby shirt sits naturally within that story.

The rugby shirt begins with utility. Thick cotton, a reinforced collar, a body designed to absorb contact without falling apart — the practicality was always the point. What Drake’s has done is carry that practicality into civilian life and make it worth thinking about. This version begins with the cloth.

Flamé cotton is woven using deliberately irregular yarn. The irregularities — the slight lumps and variations in weight — create a slubby surface texture and a natural stretch that sets it apart from plain cotton jersey.
