M-51 Parka - Olive Drab

Buzz Rickson's reproduction of the U.S. Army M-1951 fishtail parka — the cold-weather coat issued to officers during the Korean War, and famously adopted in the 1960s by British mods. This edition recreates the brief 1951 production window when the parka was made from heavy cotton back-satin with a water-repellent finish, before later years switched to oxford-weave nylon to cut weight and cost.

Cut to an ultra-loose, oversized silhouette with a snap-up fishtail back, button-down epaulettes, drawcord waist and hem, and a fixed hood lined in cotton broadcloth with an adjustable drawcord. The two flap-snap hand pockets are lined in 26 oz wool to fight off the cold, and an internal button system accepts an optional inner liner (sold separately). Built in Toyo Enterprises' Tokyo workshop with Mil-Spec urea snap buttons and a Crown aluminium spring lock front zipper on a cotton tape.
