Red Wing Moc Toe Boot 8138 - Briar Oil Slick

The 8138 wears the same No. 23 last as the heritage 875, but in Briar Oil Slick — a leather heavily saturated with wax and oil before it ever reaches the factory floor. Where the Oro Legacy ages to a warm golden tone, Briar Oil Slick ages darker, pulling toward a deep bark character that deepens with every season of wear.

The leather is produced at Red Wing's S.B. Foot Tannery and is noticeably firmer than oil-tanned alternatives when new. That firmness gives way quickly as the wax migrates and the leather relaxes — break-in is fast relative to the boot's long life, and the resulting fit is snug and close-contoured rather than generously rounded.

The Nitrile Cork wedge sole sits underfoot — oil and slip resistant, with cushioning enough for long days on hard floors. Like all Goodyear-welted Red Wing boots, the 8138 can be resoled indefinitely.
