Product Details

This is Tower Bridge through the visual language of Victorian commercial print — specifically the matchbox label, a format that compressed a great deal of information into a small, highly refined graphic space. Red perforated border, aged cream and black, the bridge drawn with engraving precision, bascules raised, a sailing vessel passing beneath. TOWER BRIDGE across the top. LONDON along the bottom. The format is affectionate and exact.

The palette runs to deep red, aged cream, and dense black — the colours of Victorian letterpress. Nothing here is photographed. The bridge is drawn, lettered, and presented as something to be looked at, which is a different proposition from the vast majority of London imagery that surrounds it.
