US Army Tropical Jacket - Olive

Buzz Rickson's reproduces the U.S. Army's first-pattern Tropical Combat Coat — the jacket issued under the 1964 DSA-1-2960-64-C contract and made famous in The Green Berets. Cut in 5.5 oz cotton poplin custom-woven on vintage looms, it carries every detail of the original: shoulder epaulettes, an internal gas flap, exposed front buttons, side waist adjusters and four bellows pockets — features that field testing in Vietnam quickly stripped out, making the 1st pattern the rarest of the four.

Built in Toyo Enterprises' Tokyo workshop on period industrial machinery, with genuine urea buttons and double-stitched seams throughout. The cut has been gently updated to a more contemporary fit, so it wears as easily over a tee in summer as it does over a fine-gauge knit when the weather turns.
